Jevons, Th(omas): Newport, R(hode) I(sland) to (Monsignor) Robert (Seton: Jersey City Heights, New Jersey), 1894 July 19
Scope and Contents
Jevons is enjoying the sea at the home of a friend who recently purchased a Moroni, a portrait of Lucretia, the foundress of a convent in Albino with an inscription given on page 3 (of this letter). This picture is mentioned in a work by Tassi published in 1708, but the inscription is quite different, raising a doubt as to the genuineness of his friend's picture. The expert who bought his friend the picture gives the accompanying reasons for believing the picture is genuine. Jevons would be obliged for (Seton)'s judgement. Jevons is obliged for (Seton)'s sending him the little work about Seton Church. His address is care of T. N. Davis.
