Fitte, C.S.C., Stanislaus F., Notre Dame, Indiana to James F. Edwards, Paris, France, 1902 September 06
Scope and Contents
Edwards' postals and letter reached him. Their Provincial requested him to preach a retreat for the Brothers of St. Joseph's Farm. He does not do anything to please men or flatter superiors. He understands that two more priests have left the community, Fathers Frederick Reuter and John Thilman and one Brother, Vigbert of the Ave Maria. Brother Francis replaces him and is replaced himself by Brother Raymond. He is glad Edwards enjoyed his trip and will be pleased to hear Edwards talk of it. He is surprised there was no mention of Neuilly. Father John Guendling has been appointed irremovable Pastor in Peru to succeed Father H Meissner, deceased. There is no Vicar-general yet for Fort Wayne. It appears Bishop Herman Alerding is sick again; and unable to attend Father H.A. Boeckelmann's silver jubilee No Archbishop has been appointed yet for New York or Chicago; Rome is slow but sure. There are great glorious prospects of the school's opening. :: XI-2-e A.L.S. 4pp.
