McGriskin, L, Chicago, Illinois to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1899 September 16
Scope and Contents
He hopes to get an appointment in the high schools of Chicago. They had a surprise party on Father Sullivan last night. He sends some lines on that great Father Corby's death. He met Fathers Fitte and Morrissey at Father Sullivan's lately. He heard Charles Veneziani has left Notre Dame. McGriskin liked him well enough though he did not like his system of teaching. Father John B. Scheier told him that Veneziani was more successful last year. He saw a letter from Washington in the Chronicle where Maurice Francis Egan receives on Friday evenings on Capitol Hill poets, orators, statesmen, diplomats, etc. It was Maurice himself sending the news. Capitol Hill! by gad, the thing is too good to let stand without a poetic line. :: XI-2-b A.L.S. 2pp.
