 Item — Box: CEDW 5, Folder: 01
Identifier: CEDW XI-1-i

Scope and Contents

He sends some Mound Builder relics from his father's farm in Warren County, Ohio. The Mound is one of the series down to the Miami river and is one of the outlying signal stations to the Great Fort called Fort Ancient. The lead balls are from the battle field of Chicamauga. The large ball he picked up from the breast works occupied by General Grant outside of Chattanooga. The sliver of wood is cut from a tree on Mission Ridge that was used as a signal tree by Gen Bragg and the nail was used to fasten his flag to the tree.
