Scope and Contents
Edwards may obtain Bishop Luke Concanen,O.P. autograph from the Dominican Convent of St. Clement's at Rome; that of Bishop John Connelly, O.P from the same source; that of Bishops Joseph Rosati and Leo De Neckere from St. Louis. Edwards may get a clue from Francis X. Reuss, librarian of the American Catholic Historical Society. Clarke encloses a piece of wood from a case containing a mummy from Pompei obtained in 1853 by Dr. L.Silliman Ives, a small lock of hair of Cardinal Jean Lefevre de Cheverus, first bishop of Boston. He has also a piece of the Old Tower at Newport, Rhode Island believed by many to have been erected by the Christian Northmen in the 10th century as a Christian baptistry. He asks if it is possible to procure complete sets of the "Ave Maria" and the "The Scholastic". :: XI-1-d A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo. 10
