(The Newberry Library) wants to build up a good department of missionary literature. A friend of Merrill's, F.P. Noble, has been writing to many Protestant missionary societies asking for material. They have succeeded in securing a complete set of reports of A( ), B( ), C( ), F( ), and M( ). They now want to begin on Catholic missions. (James) Cardinal Gibbons has promised endorsement of their letter to M(onsi)g(no)r (Denis J.) O'Connell in Rome. Onahan is asked also to endorse the project of the Library. Merrill thanks Onahan for the programme of the (Columbian) Catholic Congress.
