Shea, John Gilmary, Elizabeth, New Jersey, to James F. Edwards, Notre Dame, Indiana, 1890 November 25
Scope and Contents
He has not been well since his delightful visit to Notre Dame. Edwards' zeal as a collector has been rewarded by great results, yet he hopes that this is only a beginning. In a few days Shea will draw up the circular for his consideration. He asks Edwards if he can prepare an article for the U.S. Catholic Magazine on the condition of the archives of the Catholic Church in this country and the neglect which has swept away so much. The solemn duty on all to preserve what is left will then appear. He cannot adequately express his gratitude to Edwards for the kindness he has shown him. :: I-2-o Copy 2pp. folio
