Reily, John T., Martinsburg, West Virginia, to Richard Henry Clarke, New York, New York, 1886 March 3
Item
Identifier: CRCL I-2-n
Scope and Contents
Clarke's books have been mailed from Reily and Evans publishers. Reily has only a few choice publications and his library possessions are limited. Raised among strangers and of limited education, he has not been able to get more than his living. There were thousands of old books and pamphlets at Conewaga, Pennsylvania —6 copies of Gallitzin's Defence of Catholic Principles and other duplicates — but they never would give him a scrap. They are now kept on an attic of an old kitchen, and some day the whole treasure will be consumed, but none will ever be given away. :: I-2-n A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.
