Rademacher, Bishop Joseph, Nashville, Tennessee, to Richard Henry Clarke, New York, New York, 1884 July 15
Scope and Contents
Radamacher, when he received Clarke's letter last March with regard to a biographical sketch of Bishop James Whelan O.P., had started to refer Clarke to Whelan's Dominican Brethern to whom he retired in 1863. But he decided to wait and see what he could do. After a careful investigation of the Episcopal Archives, Rademacher can find nothing that Clarke could use. Gathering materials from among the people would be a rather disagreeable task as he was by no means favorably remembered. He is satisfied Clarke had better consult the Dominicans as to the propriety of publishing a sketch of Whelan's life and let them furnish the data. :: I-2-n A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.
