Starr, Eliza Allen, Chicago, Illinois, to Richard Henry Clarke, New York, New York, 1883 July 18

 Item
Identifier: CRCL I-2-n

Scope and Contents

Starr would take great pleasure in writing an extended notice on her good and great friend Bishop John McMullen . The article which appeared in Freeman's Journal was thrown off in the first hours of a great bereavement but there was much to be added of general interest. Starr has carefully preserved everything relating to the time. For the rest, her personal recollections took in McMullen's career from the time of his return from Rome; and for his life there she could obtain information from Father Thaddeus Butler and Father James J. McGovern . McMullen's family could give what related to his early life. Starr wants to know when Clarke will need the article for it must be written carefully and she has a new book in hand which obliges her to husband her time. P.S. on rereading Clarke's letter, Starr is inclined to believe Clarke wants materials for an article or biographical sketch rather than for her to write them. She wants to know what he desires. P.S. on a note: She can send some intersting notes and statistics on Bishop Anthony O'Regan and Bishop Thomas Patrick Roger Foley :: I-2-n A.L.S. 3pp. plus added note 8vo.
