He heard of the Bishop of Altan's interdict on the Journal but he does not know whether to congratulate McMaster or offer him his sympathies. He does not think the Bishop will lift the interdict soon because of the tone and nationalism of the pastoral. Then only fear of a higher authority will force the Bishop to rectify the injury done to McMaster. He would not like McMaster to use the civil courts but suggests that he use his influence in Rome.
