Scope and Contents

Wilber writes to inform McMaster of the death of his old friend and subscriber, Hiram McCallum, on Dec. 29, 1877. McCallum died very quietly and peacefully after receiving the last rites and Sacraments for the dying. In his 72 years he was a man of great strength of character and devotion to what he believed right. When he was converted to Catholicism 30 years ago he was much ridiculed and criticized but his devotion was so strong that he silenced every tongue by his example. He is much respected for his kindness and generosity, firmness in faith, and honorable qualities. The burial is on Jan. 2, 1878 from St. John's Church in Lockport, N. Y. :: I-2-b A.L.S. 2pp. 12mo.
