Benoit, explains to McMaster that a Rev. Father De Luca has written him asking to be admitted to his diocese. This priest claims to be a victim of persecution in Switzerland and has finally been exiled after 9 months imprisonment. Father Benoit promised to employ him if he could show good papers from his Ordinary and instructed him to borrow 20 or 25 dollars from McMaster for his train fare, which Fr. Benoit would promptly refund. Three weeks have now passed, and since De Luca has not shown up, Benoit writes to ask McMaster if the man borrowed any money from him.
