Blanchet sends a copy of his letter to Cardinal John McCloskey, Archbishop of New York, congratulating him on his appointment as Cardinal. In it he congratulates McCloskey in the name of his archdiocese on the honor confirmed on him and on the American Church. He wishes him long years as a Cardinal.
