Marty, O.S.B. Abbott Martin, St. Meinard, Ind, to James Alphonsus McMaster, New York, New York, 1874 December 17
Scope and Contents
It was during the Novena to the Immaculate Conception that Mr. Earle sent his generous donations in the name of his family to St. Meinrad's. He encloses the groundplans and a receipt for the money Mr. Earle sent, asking McMaster to find the dates of the deaths of the deceased members so that anniversary masses may be said. Mr. Earle's donation was the first one of consequence in over a year. The Freeman's has been his guide since his arrival in this country in 1860. They have lived in the new building since Sept. and the students occupy the houses in which the priests formerly lived. He thanks McMaster for the services he has done for them. A memo of the donations, those receipts, and the ground plan are included. :: I-2-a A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.
