Scope and Contents

He has just time to write a few lines before starting on his journey to Dixie. He was released from Fort McHenry on December 5 and thanks McMaster for the interest; he took in his case. He is sorry McMaster was mistaken in his opinion of General Philip Sheridan. He is neither a Christian nor a gentleman. Although the conditions under which Sheeran was released was that he should go home, Sheridan would not have let him go if Sheeran had not threatened to expose him again.
