Brownson's letter to Father Hocker was given to the writer according to Father Hecker's directions. Since Father will not be home until late Saturday afternoon, there is no hurry in finishing the article on schedule, because it will not go to the publisher until Sept. 7th. Article can be sent anytime this month. The "New Englanders" for July contains an article on "Great Republic" probably by Dr. Porter which is courteous in language.
