Returning home, after Sorin escorted him to the train, Shea thanks Sorin for the condescension and favor during Shea's stay at Notre Dame. Shea was not prepared for what he actually beheld at Notre Dame. Sorin's work has produced institutions which are unequalled. The good that Notre Dame is doing has not been fully appreciated.
