Mr. Newton, a prominent lawyer of Flint, a warm friend of Catholics, a brother-in-law of Governor Fenton, wishes to place his 5½ year old daughter, abandoned by her mother, with the Ladies of the Sacred Heart in Detroit, not so much to learn, as to be brought up a Christian, safe and secure from her mother's influence.
