Van Dyke has looked at Lefevere's tax matter and has concluded to advise him to pay this time, but under protest, filing with the Treasurer the accompanying document which is addressed to N.B. Carpenter, City Treasurer, and which states that Lefevere is paying the city school tax concerning which he recently petitioned the city for exemption, but does so under the threat of levy since he does not concede it to be just or lawful. :: III-2-i A.L.S. 2pp. 8vo.
