Scope and Contents
De Somalia acknowledges the receipt of the letter of Archbishop Ambrose Maréchal of Baltimore, dated May 13, in which he stated that Fenwick desired Father Francis Kenrick of Bardstown as his coadjutor. Since the Sacred Congregation cannot consider taking Kenrick away from Bardstown because Bishop Benedict Joseph Flaget has insisted upon his need of him, De Somalia has written to Maréchal asking that he pass over Kenrick and suggest three other candidates for the coadjutorship. The same information is now sent to Fewnwick that he may also send three names for the proposed coadjutorship. no. 12. Archbishop Peter Capranus of Inconiensis signs as secretary.
