Rosati, C.M., Bishop Joseph, St. Louis, Missouri, to Father John Timon, C.M., Barrens, Missouri, 1833 February 4
Scope and Contents
Rosati regrets Mr. McClosky's departure and is afflicted by Mr. Herlihy's illness. He is sure that Mr. Courtin's trip to New Orleans will have the same effect that Bundy's had the year before. But if he insists on going it is clear that it is a pretext to abandon his vocation. In that case it is useless and dangerous to refuse. They are far from seeing the day of a native clergy. They must have recourse to Europe., P.S. Timon is to watch over... the subject of whom Rosati expressed fears when it comes to a matter of sending him into a Congregation. If Timon gets wind of the least thing he is to write Rosati and even recall him through Father John Baptist Tornatore, C.M.. :: IV-3-i A.L.S. French 2pp. 4to.
