Scope and Contents
Van Gennip learns with deep sorrow of the death of Philip Van Dyke and sympathizes with his relatives. He expressed, in his last letter, patient with Jeremiah O'Connor because he thought he was doing his best to pay his debts to the poor but now he fears that he was mistaken and urges Brownson to do all he can to make him pay, for the money is badly needed for the care of souls.
