Livingston thanks Henry for the box of yams. Barston is invited at the Livingston's Christmas dinner as well as Col. Loesn ?, Livingston's brother-in-law, and his family. Florence Livingston? is home for the holidays. Barston is at last promoted through the death of Morgan, Major of the Artillery, in California. It takes Barston to "Hamilton". Henry is to be congratulated for leaving the Army. Livingston would like very much to see Henry now for life here in winter is horrible. There is no dependence on transportation to the city and sometimes two days go by without mail or newspapers.
