General
Document. Printed in Pécs, Hungary. It is a copy from the 1942-1943 almanac of the Order of Canons of Premontré of Jászóvár, found in the Norbertine Gymnazium at Gödöllő. ALG stresses that the St. Augustine Order, which originated in Italy, has had a major impact on the Hugarian-French cultural and intellectual relations in the Middle Ages. There were several Hungarian magisters belonging to this order who studied in Paris later, such as Magyarországi Sándor and János. ALG intends to reconstruct in detail parts of a dispute that was so prevalent in Medieval intellectual and literary circles. Magyarországi Sándor, just like Arnould de Toulouse, remained in Paris for several years to engage in appeals, sermons, disputes over power, writing down his idea, observations and disgreements. We have remains of his Paris work from the notes of his devouted students as well. Consequently, ALG argues, there is solid evidence that Hungarians in the XIIIth-XIVth century were integral in the inspiring European intellectual, literary, and political life. Hungarian
