General

Document. Written by Dr. Dercsényi Dezső in the "Élet es Irodalom", Budapest, Hungary, January 24, 1981. Several years ago, Dr. Dercsényi read an article about the Premontré College at Gödöllő, which stated that ALG has passed away. He refutes this claim by writing, in the same paper, that ALG has recently congratulated him for his article. His real name is Gábriel A. László, where A stands for Asztrik. ALG assumed the name Asztrik when he joined the Order of Canons of Premontré at Gödöllő. But he is famous all over the international academic world as Astrik. ALG was Director of the French College of the Order of Canons of Premontré during WWII. He helped French prisoners of war by giving them shelter, food, and teaching jobs as well. After WWII the school was closed down by the Communist authorities and ALG left Hungary. In the early sixties, Kerecsényi Dezsőné, from "Kultúra", called Dr. Dercsényi, informing him that she has a client from the United States, who buys all their best books. The client would like Dr. Dercsényi to dedicate the books he wrote, before sending it to America. Dr. Dercsényi agreed, but said that he doesn't speak English that well. When he found out that the American client was ALG, he was releived and dedicated his books in Hungarian to him. Hungarian
