General
Letter. Gábor informs ALG about the great difficulties he has been through in Hungary, including the notorious extermination camp at Recsk. He fled the country in November 1956. Now he lives and works in Hamburg, Germany, but wishes to emigrate to the United States. He requests ALG to get him in contact with people in Washington who might help him get a visa. Gábor heard that people immigrate to the U.S. through the Private Bill. He was surprised that the Free Europe Committee refused his services when he wanted to work for them as the Hungarian economic expert correspondent. Two years ago Gábor attended the 1955 Class Reunion at Gödöllő and is sorry to note that their former Premontre School and its monastic quarters has been devastated so much that it was unrecognizable. He sends information about his professors. Gábor knew of ALG's address through the Columbia University's reserach group working in Germany. Hungarian
