General
Item. Acc#2000-151; accompanied by note from donor: On April 2, 1931, donor's father, Herbert Henshaw, picked up these 2 bulbs and 2 pieces of metal from the site where the plane carrying Knute Rockne had crashed. It was a (trimotor) Foker plane and Tony Foker was at the site trying to pinpoint the trouble that caused the crash; Henshaw included a newspaper article that his father had saved with the pieces from the Thursday, March 28, 1968 edition of the Kansas City Star, recalling the death of Knute Rockne at Matfield Green, Kansas - article interviews Harold V. Lyle and contains useful information on the crash
