CULTURAL EXCHANGE MEETINGS ON AFRICA
Scope and Contents
Series contains files of the cultural exchange meetings on Africa (CEMA), whereby 12 African women came to the United States and traveled with three Americans throughout the United States in an attempt to learn about one another's cultures.
Address Lists: Contains addresses of African participants and Americans coming to programs or aiding the process. Arranged chronologically by list.
Correspondence: Broken into categories such as General, with participants and different individuals and groups like Bishop Bernardin and Church Women United. Also included is correspondence dealing specifically with fund raising and letters of recommendation from influential Catholic leaders for the Grail to use in obtaining funds. Material arranged alphabetically by general folder heading and chronologically within.
Evaluations: Written evaluations of different programs held in connection with CEMA. Arranged chronologically.
Financial Needs: Records including check registers from the CEMA account, the CEMA ledger and monthly financial reports on the project as well as Cornwall's financial records in the project. Arranged chronologically.
Liturgical Material: A small collection of material used in celebrations. Arranged chronologically.
Newspaper Clippings: Clippings from different areas where programs participants visited. Arranged chronologically.
Programs: Files on individual programs either directly related to CEMA or attended by the participants. Programs are either regional or topical. Includes correspondence, reports, invitations and evaluations. Material arranged alphabetically by program and chronologically within.
Proposals: Material from original idea of setting up the program. Arranged chronologically.
Publicity: Includes non-newspaper clipping material, including story in St. Anthony Messenger.
Report: Series includes the final report sent to all who donated time or money and persons or organizations involved.
Sample Grail Projects in Africa: African women's projects which they, as Grail members, are running in their own countries. Arranged chronologically.
