On his return he found the package containing the fine old English watch and seal. He has put them in the hands of friends of his who are searching for the owner. Arnoldus Vanderhorst accidently shot himself some years ago. He was the nephew of R.W. Vanderhorst, the original owner of the watch. Northrop does not know whether he left issue. Northrop sends McMaster $3 as the subscription fee for the Freeman's Journal and a donation of $2 to the Carmelite Convent in New Orleans, Louisiana. He is not sure that McMaster collects for that institution but sends the money anyway. She has a bas-relief of Archbishop John Baptist Prucell which she is anxious to sell. Her father, C. E. Nourse, oldest banker in Cincinnati at the time of his death, and her mother were Purcell's first converts. the bas-relief was given to them by Sister Anthony of the Good Samaritan Hospital. There is another one like it in the Cincinnati Art Museum given to it by Reuben Springer. She thinks it is worth about $25. :: XI-1-e A.L.S 3pp. 12mo.
