 Item — Box CHUD 5
Identifier: CHUD X-2-m
Scope and Contents Muir did not write with a view of obtaining information regarding the learned gentleman's whereabouts. She thinks Hudson does quite well away from the University. They are a graceless lot. It would not do for Muir to visit Notre Dame, for after the sordid statement in the last Scholastic the professors would run and hide lest she should borrow money of them. She has seen many photographs of Rome and she is overwhelmed. She saw Correggio's Magdalen but doesn't like it. :: X-2-m A.L....

 Item — Box CHUD 6
Identifier: CHUD X-2-l
Scope and Contents Muir thanks Hudson for the book he sent her. She is designing Christmas cards and would like to know if Hudson has any favorite flowers or emblems. She told Hudson her story because he would know her better for it. The Professor she mentioned seems to be afflicted with the notion like most Catholic men that a girl must want him very badly.  Item — Box CHUD 5

Scope and Contents Muir is pleased that Hudson liked her poem. Most speakers on the Blessed Mother do not please Muir because they speak of her not as a lady but as a anatomical curiosity. What amazes Muir is why Eleanor Donnelly doesn't fall in love. Muir may never marry but she has never found any man less than a gentleman. If women would study men a little closer they would not find them so bad. She thanks Hudson for the picture. Muir afflicted Professor Arthur Stace with some of her religious doubts...

 Item — Box CHUD 5
Identifier: CHUD X-2-k
Scope and Contents

Muir speaks of coming east to visit some relatives and while visiting them she would visit Hudson, that she might discuss her spiritual problems. Muir thinks she will never write a Catholic story because it would not pay. With the exception of a few religious whose lives are unavailable, Muir sees nothing admirable in individual Catholics. Miss Eleanor Donnelly's rendering of legends is lovely. :: X-2-k A.L.S. 3pp. 12mo.

Scope and Contents

Muir does not want Hudson's thanks for her contributions to the Ave Maria. They are the only religious exercises that she has inclination for. She is provoked with the end of "Father Tom". The priests in her section of the country do not understand the customs of the people, but they make a good effort to do so. :: X-2-k A.L.S. 4pp. 12mo.

Muir, Marion, Morrison, Colorado, to Father Daniel E. Hudson, C.S.C., Notre Dame, Indiana, 1885 September 7

 Item — Box CHUD 8
Identifier: CHUD X-3-a
Scope and Contents Muir knows what Hudson says of marriage is true, but desperate cases require desperate remedies. If Hudson knew her position after the flight she has made for a living, he would not wonder that she accepted any honorable offer of shelter. She doesn't think that one ever attempted to hurt her good name. People who knew her wouldn't believe it. Professor Arthur Stace read her letters to a man who spread more than truth all through Denver, but he does not amount to much. Professor Joseph...
