The correspondence expresses support in the wake of newspaper revelations that former pitcher Emil John "Dutch" Leonard had accused Speaker and Ty Cobb of fixing and betting on a game in 1919. Five of the letters are from fans, and the sixth letter is from former player George Stovall.
