Biographical / Historical

Felix Carlow "Emmit" Jennings (1882-1980) was raised in Warrren, Pennsylvania and had moved to Tucumcari, New Mexico, in 1907. A businessman and entreprenuer, Jennings operated several businesses in Tucumcari over the years including a bowley alley, billiard parlor, and liquor stores. Jennings was an avid baseball fan, and through his longtime friend sportswriter Harry Neily, Jennings attended his first World Series in 1920. He would go on to attend 49 more World Series, sometimes as a correspondent for the Tucumcari newspapers, and he developed friendships with baseball writers and baseball executives, including American League President Bill Harridge. Jennings' travel slowed in the late 1960s, and he died at nearly 100 years of age in Tucumcari in 1980.
