Minneapolis Public Library Boxing Photograph and Reference Files
Content Description
This collection contains several hundred folders of boxing-related research materials from the 1920-1940s, chiefly photographs and newspapers clippings. Originally compiled by the Minneapolis Public Library from the morgues of local newspapers, the collection is arranged by the names of individual boxers. Most boxers are represented by photographic prints, while only a few have associated clippings files. The collection includes files for both prominent boxers of the 1920s, 1930s, and 1940s, as well as files for lesser known boxers. The collection also includes a smaller number of modern prints and negative later reproduced from original photographs in the collection by the Minneapolis Public Library.
