Honus Wagner Notebooks
Content Description
Two small volumes of the daily calendar type, dated 1904 and 1910, used as notebooks by Pittsburgh Pirates shortstop Honus Wagner. Content consists mostly of accounts, addresses, and other brief notations. The 1910 volume contains several longer crossed-out pages that could be copies of a rudimentary will.

Biographical / Historical
Johannes Peter "Honus" Wagner (1874-1955) was a professional baseball player who played most of his career with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Wagner played shortstop and was a star offensive player. When he retired in 1917, he held many major league batting records. He was one of the first five players elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame in the inaugural election in 1936.
