A. James McAdams Collection of Eastern European Dissident Materials comprises 16 folders of materials relating to dissident groups and subject files on notable historians. Materials cover topics from East Germany pre-unification, the German Democratic Republic (GDR/DDR), Hungarian anti-communist groups, Polish solidarity, and subject files on historians whose work relates to dissident groups. Formats include books, medals, serials, emblems, CDs, and subject files.

Biographical / Historical
A. James McAdams is a political scientist and professor at the University of Notre Dame. He attended Earlham College (B.A., 1976) and received his masters (1977) and Ph.D. (1983) in Political Science from the University of California, Berkeley. From 1992-2018, McAdams was a professor at the University of Notre Dame and Director of the Nanovic Institute for European Studies. During his career, McAdams crossed paths with Dr. Jozsef Szajer and Harald Neubert, historians and professors, whose work closely aligned with his. His areas of research focus on global communism, central European affairs, democratization, and far-right politics.
