Rusudana Nikolaevna Nikoladze Illustrated Travel Memoir, circa 1920s
Scope and Contents
The unbound volume entitled "My Norway: Summer 1913" (Moia Norvegiia: leto 1913 goda) primarily describes Rusudana's honeymoon trip to Norway in the summer of 1913, shortly after her marriage to St. Petersburg historian Mikhail Aleksandrovich Polievktov. In the memoir Rusudana provides occasional references to her earlier trips to Europe, and she explains her interest in Scandinavia and her reasons for visiting Norway. At the outset of her journey her itinerary included such cities as Moscow, Warsaw, Berlin, Copenhagen, Goteborg, Fristaden Christiania, the fiords near Trondheim, and Bergen. Her return trip included Christiania, Copenhagen, Hamburg, Paris, Les Sables-d'Olonne, Berlin, and St. Petersburg. Most of the memoir is dedicated to Scandinavian cities, sites, and the people she met during her travels.
