Zacatecas Martyrs, circa 1926-1929

 File — Box: 1, Folder: 8
Identifier: MSH/LAT 0085-8

Scope and Contents

The postcards depict Father Luis Bátiz Sainz (canonized 21 May 2000) and three lay Catholic activists from Zacatecas: Manuel Morales (canonized 21 May 2000), Salvador Lara Puente (canonized 21 May 2000), and David Roldán Lara (canonized 21 May 2000). All four men were imprisoned and subsequently executed under authority of Mexican president, Plutarco Elías Calles (15 August 1926). Note that the pencil annotation erroneously associates Lara Puente with León; he was active in Zacatecas.
