Comte de Langeron. Reports, 1762 January-1763 March.
Scope and Contents
A folio-sized gathering of around 47 official letters and memoranda written on Saint-Domingue from January 1762 to March 1763. Some appear to be in Langeron's hand. Most are directed to either Philippe François Bart, the governor of Saint-Domingue, or the duc de Choiseul, the French minister for foreign affairs. Much of the content relates to the organization, pay, and living conditions of the regiment, and to the promotion of officers. There is also discussion of the colony in general, and some intelligence regarding the British. Langeron also directs several letters to the King of Poland; several Polish regiments had been sent to assist the French in Saint-Domingue.
