Scope and Contents

A memorandum, written and signed by Thomas Church, Bristol County justice of the peace, registering the complaint of Martha Price, of Little Compton, alleging that her husband, John Price, had threatened to kill her. The document records that because John Price refused to give sureties for his appearance at the Court of General Sessions, Church ordered him held in custody until the next sitting of the court at Bristol.
