Elena Bonner, Sound recording of interview by Fatima Salkazanova,, 1990 August 3.
Scope and Contents
Elena Bonner was a human-rights activist and wife of the physicist and dissident Andrei Sakharov. In this interview, Bonner speaks about Mikhail Gorbachev's expansion of his presidential powers, Perestroika, and Soviet politics in general. The reel appears to have been the original recording that was then transferred to the cassette MSE/REE 0002-124. It features numerous edits. The recording appears to have served as material for the program Za i protiv hosted by Salkazanova and aired by Radio Liberty on 1990 September 7 and 8.
