This indenture made the xiiiith daye of October in the xiiith year of the raigne of our soueraigne Ladie Elizabeth by the grace of god of England, Fraince and Ireland Quene defender of the faith etc. Between the right honorable George Earle of Shrewsbury of th’on partie And Robert Sharpe of Cheapside on London Goldsmith of th’other. Witnesseth that the said Earle hath demised graunted and to farme letten and by these partes doth demise graunte and to farme lett unto the said Robert Sharpe all that his mesuage or tenemente Latelye uaylued uppon one parcell of ground taken in of the Commen of Westwoode Adwyninge to the Towne of Woodthorpe in the parishe of Hannesworth in the countey of York with a gardeine plott unclosed out of the said Comen conteyninge by estimacon half an acre, one Barne, one medowe conteyninge one acre, one Croft errable conteyninge seauen acres, one Litle close errable conteyninge tennit and occupacon of the said Robert Sharpe or his assignes. To have and to hold the said mesuage and premises with the appurtinaunces whatsoeuer, unto the said Robert Sharpe and his assignes From the feast of St. Mychuell th’archangle last past before the date hereof unto th’end and terme of twentie and one yeres Yeldinge and payinge therefore yerely duringe the said terme unto the said Erle his heires and assignes the yerely rente of Thertene shillinges and foure pence, That is to saye, for said messuage and Gardeine xui and for the other premisses twelve shillings at the feastes of St. Michuell th’archangle and the annunciation of our Ladye by euen porcons and all other sutes or seruices there used due or accustomed Prouided allwayes and it is so couenannted and agreede Betwene the said parties That if it happen the said yerelye rent of xiii shillings iiii pence or any parte thereof to be behinde and unpaid by the space of twentie dayes next after either of the said feastes at which it ought to be paid beinge lawfullye demanded Or That the said Robert Sharpe and his assignes do not at all tymes hereafter duringe the said terme at his or their proper costes and charges well and sufficientlie maynteyne Repayre and uphold all and singuler the aforenamed mesuage and buildings and the same so sufficientlie repayred in th’end of the said terme Leaue and yeld upp Or That he the said Sharpe and his assignes do not at all time hereafter duringe the said terme Imediattlie after the deathe, gaiinge, or decesse of euery tenainte or occupier of the premises geaue and paye unto the said Erle his heires and assignes for and in the name of herriot the best oxe or quick beast whatsoeuer that he or they shall then haue Or Likewise if that he the said Robert and his assignes do not at all tymes herafter duringe the said terme prouide and sett forthe at his or their like proper coste and charge, one good and able Geldinge with harnys for a light horseman meete and sufficient for seruice in the warres to be readye for soche able person as by the said Erle shalbe named or prouided to attend uppon the said Erle or his heires when and as often as he or they shalbe comannded to serue on the warres of our Soueraigne Ladye the quenes maiestie her heines or Successores That then and from thenceforthe this parte demise or lease shall cease determyne and take no longer effect this Indentes or ani thinge herin to the contrary not withstanding. In Witness whereof the parties aboue said to these Indenture Interchangeably haue sett their hand and seales the day and year first aboue written.
