Legal documents including his will; a notebook of arithmetic and poetry; and manuscripts of articles on the history of astronomy. Two volumes contain his financial accounts dating from his years as a merchant; part of one volume filed with early Notre Dame financial books (ULDG), contains further financial records.

Background
Prior to joining the Congregation of Holy Cross, Brother Peter was married, the father of two children, and a successful merchant in Goshen and Elkhart County, Indiana. After his wife died in 1856, Fitzpatrick joined the congregation and became Brother Peter. He served as assistant postmaster at Notre Dame.
