Background
Christian denomination founded by Francis Hodur in 1897 in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Fr. Hodur was elected bishop in 1904 at the First General Synod of the Polish National Catholic Church. He died in 1953. Joseph C. Zawistowski was ordained in 1948 and consecrated bishop in 1978. Along with Rev. Theodore L. Zawistowski he translated a number of Bishop Hodur's writings from Polish into English.
