Scope and Content

Questionnaires on the rhythm method of birth control, and on responsible parenthood and love in marriage, with responses from those who answered them; reports, notes taken at meetings, correspondence and background papers, 1964-1967; articles on birth control, dating from the 1960s through the 1980s; a copy of the book Turning Pointby Robert McClory regarding the Commission; book reviews and Crowley correspondence concerning Turning Point; letters from members of the Commission in preparation for Turning Point; letters received concerning Turning Point, including some from bishops; publicity for Turning Point. Background

Patrick (Pat) and Patricia (Patty) Crowley were leaders of the Christian Family Movement. They were appointed by Pope Paul VI in December 1964 to serve on the Special Papal Commission on Birth and Population Control. They conducted surveys of CFM members on birth control as part of their service on the Commission.
