Background
Swiss philosopher and teacher, born in 1894 in Winterthur. Marti studied philosophy at the University of Zürich starting in 1918, and in 1922 received a Ph.D. in Philosophy at the University of Bern. He taught at several universities and colleges in the United States starting in 1923. He died in 1991.
