Background

Don C. Miller was born in Defiance, Ohio, in 1902. One of the Four Horsemen, he played football (halfback) at Notre Dame from 1922 to 1924, All-American in 1923 and 1924. After graduating he played professional football in 1925 for the Hartford Blues. He then coached football at Georgia Tech (1925-1928) and Ohio State (1929-1932). He later became an attorney in Cleveland, Ohio, and served from 1941 to 1953 as United States Attorney for Northern Ohio and from 1965 until his retirement in 1977 as a United States Bankruptcy Court judge. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1970. He died in 1979 at the age of 77.
