Collection contains materials documenting Marian E. Crowe’s scholarly and professional activities, including copies of journal and magazine articles, book reviews, and other publications; unpublished essays, lectures, and graduate school term papers; teaching materials; subject files; and scattered correspondence, especially with editors and publishers. The collection also includes a copy of Crowe’s 2007 book, Aiming at Heaven, Getting the Earth: The English Catholic Novel Today.

Biographical / Historical
Marian E. Crowe was born July 22, 1941, in Fullerton, California, to John B. and Lillian L. Meyers. She graduated from Mount St. Mary’s College (California) in 1963 with a B.A. before earning graduate degrees in English from California State University at Long Beach (M.A., 1971) and the University of Notre Dame (Ph.D., 1986). Over the course of her career, she taught at Lake Michigan College, Heidelberg College (Ohio), Saint Mary’s College (Indiana), and the University of Notre Dame where she was a visiting scholar in the Program of Liberal Studies. She is the author of Aiming at Heaven, Getting the Earth: The English Catholic Novel Today and published articles in Renascence, Logos, and Commonweal, among other periodicals. She married Notre Dame professor Michael J. Crowe in January 1994.
