Scope and Content
2008 accession: A scrapbook compiled by Dominic Nigro while a student at Kearney Military Academy and at Notre Dame, ca. 1911-1914, including photographs, newspaper clippings, event programs, and other memorabilia; a binder titled "Rockne - Nigro - Heathman" containing clippings about the 75th anniversary commemoration of the Rockne plane crash and copies of historical clippings about earlier commemorations; newsletters and a plaque from the Rockne Club of America, ca. 1969; a copy of Paul E. Prugh's 1957 book Doctors on Wings: The Story of Dr. D. M. Nigro and His Friends; copies of five autographed photographs of prominent Notre Dame coaches, Rockne through Holtz; and photocopies of additional clippings regarding Rockne.
2009 accession: John Rockne letters (1969) and obituary and eulogy (2008); Rockne Club of America program (1952) and newsletter (1969); newspaper clippings (1969, no date); programs, invitations, and clippings re Kansas and Knute Rockne (2000s); Dr. Nigro correspondence (1968 and 1969); about eighty color and black-and-white snapshots (some with negatives, mainly 1960s and early 1970s) of Rockne Club meetings, groups at dinners / meetings, a football game, and students on campus in 1963; five large photographic prints of Rockne Club meetings and of Doctor Nigro (1948-1956); and a compact disc with photos of the 31 March 2004 dedication of the Kansas Turnpike Rockne Memorial.
2010 accession: Collages of photographs taken at the 4 March 1952 and 4 March 1954 Rockne Club Dinners; a 10" x 21" photograph of the 28 April 1955 Boys Town of Italy Dinner, Kansas City, Missouri; and a 8" x 20" photograph of the 30 March 1960 Rockne Club Dinner.
2017 accession: Papers and photographs, some collected by D.M. Nigro but the majority accumulated by his daughter Anne O'Hare, including material on Rockne, Dr. Nigro's relationship with Rockne and the Rockne Family (including mid-1930s photographs), the 40th reunion of the 1929 National Championship Football Team, an article about Rockne in the Autumn 1998 issue of Kawsmouth, Easter Heathman, memorial events remembering Rockne in Kansas, the dedication of the Rockne Memorial on the Kansas Turnpike, the Rockne Club, and the D.M. Nigro Award for Amateur Athletics. There are a number of artifacts, including a few fragments of glass from the Rockne plane crash site, VHS tapes and DVDs, and printed items regarding the Rockne Memorial Dedication and memorial events in Kansas. There are also many additional photographic negatives (bulk 1940s-1950s) and prints (bulk 1950s-1960s) regarding the Nigro family and also athletic, religious, and similar events, banquets, and meetings.
2018 accession: Six scrapbooks of newspaper clippings regarding Dr. Nigro and his activities with Rockne and Notre Dame, 1920s-1930 (bulk 1935-1937); a binder of photocopied clippings and photos (and a little correspondence and other material) concerning Rockne's death and memorialization in Kansas, 1931-2007; photocopies of a 10 June 1994 letter from Collegiate Licensing Inc. to Samuel M. Nigro; Dr. Nigro's 1960 Monogram Club Honorary Membership Certificate; and William D. (Bill) Rockne's annotated 1933 St. Benedict's College yearbook. Also, a large framed color drawing by Vernon Hampton of Rockne in a sweatshirt holding a football which was used at Rockne Club of America events; a brochure and five photos regarding Sam Nigro's "Tailgater Identification Module", 1986; autographed photographs of Notre Dame football coaches from Rockne to Kelly (not complete); copy negatives of photos and clippings regarding Rockne; Dr. Nigro personal photos, especially of Nigro with prominent individuals; negatives and copyprints of clippings regarding Rockne and Dr. Nigro; and a Rockne Club of America ceramic and wood wall hanging.

In 2008 Charles Nigro donated 5 linear inches, in 3009 2 linear inches, and in 2010 1.5 linear inches. In 2017 Anne O'Hare added 2 linear feet and in 2018 Samuel A. Nigro added 2.3 linear feet.
