Background
The Consultation on Common Texts, a group that was founded in the mid 1960s as a forum for consultation on worship renewal for many of the major Christian denominations in Canada and the United States, also serves as a clearing house for information and as the source of liturgical materials to be submitted to the sponsoring denominations for study, approval and use. The Consultation on Common Texts has produced volumes on the Psalter, the rites for Christian Marriage and Holy Baptism, texts for use in the Eucharist and Daily Office, the Lectionary and ecumenical prayer. The Consultation also serves as a North American representative to the English Language Liturgical Consultation, the successor agency to the International Consultation on English Texts.
